Golf as a pastime in Belize is something that still has a lot of room to catch on. For a country with a fine weather and spectacular landscape as Belize, it’s a pity that it still does not have that many golf courses for golfing enthusiasts to enjoy. Still, there’s a lot of room for improvement and the current developments already in place should be exciting for anyone who is into golfing.

Right now, there is only one main golf course in the country, but as the idea of Belize as a golfing destination is starting to fly, we should see more construction as time passes by. Belize has two (2) golf courses, of which the most popular is that one in Chapel Hill. The Caye Chapel golf course is a par-72, USGA-rated, 18-hole golf course located in the Caye Chapel private island about 12 miles off the coast of Belize. The Caye Chapel Island Resort, the private resort that runs the island, hosts the golf course. This private resort is among the most expensive and most high-end resorts you will ever see in Belize.

And what’s a golf course in an island when you don’t get to enjoy the beach right after your golf game? There’s a long stretch of beach coasts in Caye Chapel, along with swimming pools, a club house, and the view of the deep blue Caribbean seas just beyond the horizon. It’s the perfect getaway vacation for the busy businessman (or woman).

The other golf course is the Roaring River Golf Course near Belmopan, Belize. This is a smaller golf course, with only 9 holes and double tees. The elevated greens and water hazards will surely be a stretch even for the most experienced of golfers. For those who do not have the time or the money to spend it on an expensive island resort cum golf course, this smaller version in the mainland is a better match for you.

So do you think you can handle Belizean golf?
